C~ surveys by the University of Colorado N~seum in 1947 in adjacent

.

~,~'"
e..n
.......
~,

areas and from a study of the terrain, it is probable that few,

if any, important sites lie within the proposed reservoir area.

Paleonto1.Qgy

Although no paleontological survey has been made, it is

probable that no important values will be affected by the con-

strUction of the reservoir.

2. Need for Outdoor TYpes of Recreation

There appears to be no need for additional types of outdoor

recreation in the vicinity.

3. Population Pattorn and Economic Standards

The rosident population in the project area is centered in
,

cities of Estes Park and Loveland, Colorado. Their income is derived

from ranching, crop production, and to a large extent, from tourists

and regional vacationers. The economic standards appear to be high and

well establd.shed, with capital expansion indicated in most all economic

pursuits.

B. Coj-lClusions

1. Present Evaluation of Site

From tho recreational standpoint the reservoir site appears

to have received no active use. The amount of passive use involved in

enjoymen.t of the natural floral cover and views of woeded slopes and

ravines can~ot be accurately estimated though it would be minor,

inasmuch as'few persons now enter the forea.

3

,"'::,:~'" ,'- : "T

"".,.

. ," ,:;'",'

;.' -,

-'-,'-' '" ,"

~~.

:~

:.'

-,'::;"-',.
