Recommendations <br /> <br />1.' It is recommended that sufficient land be acquired around the <br /> <br />res0rvoir in order to assure public access to all points on the shore <br /> <br />line where not inconsistent with plans and agreements of the Bureau of <br /> <br />Heclallk'ltion. <br /> <br />2.' It is recommended that the Ibtional Park Service be advised <br /> <br />',,-. <br /> <br />of any changes in the prc:went plans of the Bureau, that would affect <br /> <br />location, construction or operation of tile proposed reservoir and of the <br /> <br />authorization of any additional reservoirs in the project. <br /> <br />5. It is recomlJlended that the Bureau consider the administration <br /> <br /> <br />and maintenance of the potential recreational development as a part of <br /> <br />their responsibility; <br /> <br />4. It is recommended that excavation activities be carefully <br /> <br />watched for possible cultural material in deeply buried sites. <br /> <br />III PURPOSE: OF 'mE HESERVOm <br /> <br />A. The. purpose of the Rattlesnake Reservoir is to divert the <br /> <br />~-~ <br /> <br />incoming water from the Rattlesnake Pres6fire' Tunnel to the Bald Mountain <br /> <br />Pressure Tunnel under a head sufficient to operate the Flatiron power <br /> <br /> <br />plant satisfactorily. This satisfactory head in the reservoir ties <br /> <br /> <br />between elevations 6580 cmd 6574 feet. <br /> <br />B. Rattlesnake Dam is to be an earth and rock fill dam with a height <br /> <br />of approximately 90 feet at the maximum section and crest length of <br /> <br />approximatetY 1100 feet. The dam will impound a reservoir having 92.5 <br /> <br />s\lrface acres at the maximum operating level of 6580. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />.
