---
cun I',~

\.Iater Qual i ty

Samples for water-quality analysis were collected from Grange Hall Creek pe-
riodically at time' of dry-weather ~ and during ,elected period' of rainfall or
snowmelt runoff. Although most samples were collected at ,Ites 2 and 5 (fig. 2;
table 1). occasional ,ample, were also collected at sites 1, J, and 4. Results of
water-quality analyses are given in tables 24 through JJ (Hydrologic Data section.
at back of report). Analysis consisted of some but not neces, ari ly all of the
following; Specific conductance. pH. water temperature. fecal-col iform bacteria.
,eiected major anions and cations. su,pended sediment. selected nutrient'. oil and
grease. ,elected trace element'. and selected pe'ticldes and EOlychiorinated
biphenyls (PCB's). Specific conductance. pH, and water temperature were measured
at the time of sample collection. Fecal-coliform bacteria were determined at the
sampling site or at a U.S. Geological Survey fleid ,ervices laboratOry within a
few hours of collection. Sediment concentrations also were determined at this
iaboratory. All other determination, were made at the Denver Central Water Qual-
ity Laboratory of the U.S. Geological Survey. Methods for sample collection and
analysis are given In Goerlitz and Brown (1972), Greeson and others (1977). and
Skougstad and others (1979).

Data for dry-weather flow are given in tables 24,27.30, and 33: data for
rainfall runoff are given In tables 25.28. Jl. and JJ; data for ,nowmelt runoff
are given in tables 26. 29. and 32. Miscellaneous specific-conductanCe data are
given in table 34 (Hydrologic Data section. at back of report).

Water-quality standards for agricultural use In Colorado are sho'vJn in
table 2. Constituents were only included in table 2 If standard' have been e,tab-
lished and if concentrations of these constituents were determined.

7
