<br />J <br /> <br />Rio Grande Division <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />There was no work accomplished on this division during <br />the month. <br /> <br />Closed Basin Division <br /> <br />At a meeting of the Rio Grande Compact Commission in <br />Santa Fe, New Mexico, on February 14, representatives of the San <br />Luis Valley Water Conservancy District and Ibe State of Colorado <br />explained the Closed Basin Water Salvage Project and sought the <br />support of New Mexico and Texas in their forth - coming efforts <br />to seek authorization for the project on a non-reimbursible basis <br />for construction and operation and maintenance costa. While no <br />cemmitments were made, the proposal was favorably received by the <br />Texas and New Mexico Commissioners. <br /> <br />Cenejos Division <br /> <br />FloOO Control regulations for Platoro Reservoir proposed <br />by the Corps of &gineers were also discussed at the Compact <br />meeting. These regulations were approved with changes as suggested <br />by the COIlllli.SSi811. <br /> <br />Rie Grande Water Salvas:e Proiect <br /> <br />The Regional Hydrologist spent several days in the <br />Project Office during which time the salvage studies and work <br />to be accomplished were outlined. All material and data from <br />previous work will be used to the maxim1lDl extent pessible. <br /> <br />General <br /> <br />Snow surveys were started on February 25, with the <br />State of Colorado furnishing financial assistance. <br /> <br />The forecast: of the April - July run-off of the Conejos <br />River indicates that the water supply will be about seventy percent <br />of normal. <br /> <br />r '" ,~ "'l; 1. .. <br />',-, '..., ~J.
