.

.

period of 5 years. This time frame is identified around a probable
spawning window of mid-May and early June. Larval chubs will be monitored
shortly after spawning and nursery habitat and recruitment will be
assessed in spring, summer, and fall.

VIII. FY 1994 Work:

A. Descriotion of Work:

Each of the five cohorts hatched during this investigation (1992-
1996) will be monitored yearly to assess recruitment and relate it
to river hydrology and temperature. The survival of age-O through
age-2 fish will be determined through catch rates from seine
information. The survival of age-3 fish and older will be
determined from catch rates in gill ne~s and from mark and recapture
information obtained through electrofishing. Seining of age-O fish
and habitat mapping will be conducted monthly through early October.
Sampling will be coordinated in late August with the ISMP Humpback
Chub Monitoring Program to assess invasion of non-native species.

B. Deliverables:

Annual Summary Report containing all findings of FY 1, (1) nursery
areas used by young chubs, and (2) nursery habitat maps.

c.
