.

The Weber site is OD a small iry tributary of West MAncos

River near the summit between Middle and West Mancos Rivers,

in the Mancos shale foro8tion, with favorable geological condi-

tions for a tight reservoir and a safe dam of the earth fill type.

Stored water WDuld be diverted by canels fram East and Middle

Wancos Rivers which together produce about one-third of the total

flow of the system. Four niles of very expensive canal construc-

tion would be needed to divert water froD West Mancos River to

this site.

The J~ckson Gulch reservoir site lie3 high above and

about a mile west of West Mancos River in Dakota sandstone And the

,

overlying Mancos shale form~tions with geological conditions

favorable for a tight reservoir and a safe darl of the earth fill

type. Stored water would be diverted frOM West l~ncos River which

produc8s, at the point of diversion, nearly two-thirds of the flow

of Mancos River at the gaging station. A short diversi8D canal

to the resorvoir ,md another shr,rt cClnel fran the reservoir to

West Mnncos River would corcplete this plan.

.\
" '3 ~ ()
l-. .

c

.
