Introduction

Committee (PSIAC) to lead and coordinate the four
regional framework studies. On November 21, 1966,
PSIAC formally acknowledged and accepted this
assignment. On March I, 1967, the PSIAC also
accepted the responsibility to produce this Analytical
Summary Report (ASR).
Further and final authority is contained in the
authorizing legislation of the participating Federal,
State, and interstate agencies, and in the appropria-
tion acts providing funds for the four framework
studies.

The PSIAC assigned the regional studies and the
ASR to its Coordinated Planning Subcommittee'
(CPS). CPS, through its staff of assigned
agency personnel, by establishing various task forces,
and with the cooperation and review of Federal
agencies and States, has prepared this report and
submitted it to PSIAC for transmittal to the Water
Resources Council.
