V <br /> <br />A total of 14 different species were collected from the San Juan and Pine <br />Rivers. These species include the flannelmouth sucker, (Catostomps latiDinis), the <br />whitc sucker, (r.~.tostonlUs. cOlr;mersoni), the bluehcad Bucket", (Pantost"ps ~i.tl.l.\S.), <br />the speckled dace, (Rhipichvthys ASClIlllS), the bonyta.i.l chub, (G.fu robust,,), the <br />Colorado River squswfish, (Pr.ychocheilus ~lICill"), the mottled sculpin, (Cottus <br />.M.i.[Q.i), the brown trout, (~ trutta), the ca.rp, (Cyprious carpio). the fathead <br />Ininnol~, (Pimphal "" J;U.Q.llOill..:o), the channel c~tfi sh, (Ict~lllrus punctnt'ls), the black <br />bullhead, (lctalurus 1Illl.l.rul.), the bluegill, (I'''pO'~iS machroohit"lls) and the groan sun- <br />fish, (Le~omis cyanellus). <br /> <br />The flannelmouth sucker and the bony tail chub were the most abundant species, <br />nearly oon.half of the total number of fish found. Only four brown trout were found <br />in the San Juan and Pine Rivers. <br /> <br />The fish species found in the Navajo River wet"e the Sar.le as thosa found in <br />the San Juan snd Pine Rivers, rainbow trout, (~ ~airdDe~ii), was the only additional <br />species found. l'ra.sh fish were. the most dominant species, however, the rainbow and <br />brown trout were r.lore abundant than trout found in the San Juan and Pine Rivers. <br /> <br />The \"otcnone tre~tment I~as very successful. Good results, nearly totd kill, <br />IJas obtained dOlmstresm to ~'rui tland, New Hcxico, approximately 40 miles below the <br />Navajo Dam. This made a total of approximately 75 miles of the San Juan River that <br />wi. s . t rea.tecl. <br /> <br />As yet, no watet" has been impounded by the NaVajo Dall! and the pt"csent anticipated <br />closure will be sometime during the spring of 1962. This will be approximately eight <br />months after the rotenoning.
