Mean annual streamflow is about 515,000 acre-ft. Eighty
percent of this flow occurs during the April-October irrigation season. The
low flows of the river at Pueblo occur during February and March when winter
storage accumulates in the reservoir.

,

Perennial tributaries in the western part of the study area are sustained
by the mountain snowpack. Most tributaries of the Arkansas River downstream
from the Saint Charles River originate on the plains, east of the mountains,
and flows are ephemeral. There are no perennial or significant ephemeral
tributaries to the Arkansas River in the Kansas part of the study area.

15
