The ether irrigated areas might be <br />benefited by an exchange ef waters (supply petnitting). <br /> <br />GENF1lA.L <br /> <br />Soils <br /> <br />Along tho Arkansas River and most ef its tributaries tho lands <br />eccur o.s river bottor.dand, terraces er benches, nni alluvial fans. <br />The uplnnds are residual soils derived from shalo, lu"ostone, er sand- <br />stene cxoept in seme areas whore alluvial outwash overlies the residual <br />soil. The parent material of most of the residual soils is the Ognl- <br />lala,fornntion, Pierre shule, Niobrara brouP (Apishapa shale and Tinpas <br />limcst0ne), Bonton group (Cr.rlilo shc,lo, Groenhorn lil~Stol1O, and Gran- <br />oros shalo), and the Dakota sandstono. <br /> <br />Clino.tic conditions under which the soils devolopod are a normal <br />annual rainfall ranging from 10 to 18 inohes, low humidity. cold win- <br />ters, ann wam "to nonerawlyIio"t sunners vntli mnny nnys 01or~1; sun- <br />Shine. Wind and wnter orOSlc'n have been the contributing ageneies re- <br />sponsible for nearly all of the alluvial deposits.
