Slumgullion earthflow is moving by a process similar to soil creep.

Talus creep is also common in the San Juans as yOU might imagine.

The great volumes of loose rock debris are continuously moving slowly

down-slope.

Rock glacier creep is existent in the San Juans. The extent of this

type of creep is not completely known at this time; however, studies

designed to fill this void of information are being planned. Rock glaciers

(features similar in appearance and movement to ice glaciers) are found

throughout the higher elevations in Hinsdale County. The San Cristobal
rock glacier is located just south of Lake San Cristobal on the east side
of the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River.

II. Fast Movement

a.
