The wetland habitat provided at the Blanca WHA <br /> <br />is becoming increasingly important for nesting and migrating <br /> <br />waterfowl, shorebirds and wading birds. Other common game ani- <br /> <br />mals are the desert cottontail and mourning dove. Common non- <br /> <br />game mammals include the coyote, muskrat, white-tailed jack- <br /> <br />rabbit, least chipmunk and Ord's kangaroo rat. The golden eagle, <br /> <br />marsh hawk, Brewer's sparrow, horned lark, red-winged blackbird, <br /> <br />loggerhead shrike, tree swallow and black-billed magpie are <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />important non-game birds. <br /> <br />Common reptiles and amphibians include the tiger salamander, <br /> <br />western toad, leopard frog and common garter snake. Rainbow <br /> <br />trout and channel catfish have been stocked in several of the <br /> <br />icpoundments and fathead minnows are present in most of the <br /> <br />fresh water areas. <br /> <br />A total list of species known or expected to occur ~n the w~A <br /> <br />is included in Appendix 1. Most will not receive management <br /> <br />attention at this time; but the following species or groups, <br /> <br />listed by priority for management, are considered sufficiently <br /> <br />important for consideration. <br /> <br />1.)
