It is
anticipated that benchmarks 7 through 11 will be met in FY20oo. DBMS activities after
FY2000 will largely consist of maintenance and refmement activities. Once the data base
has been designed, populated, and documented, the cost of maintenance will drop
substantially with the exception FY2002 and 2004 which it is anticipated that the database
may require a maintenance overhaul.

Budget A for DBMS: FY 2000
FY 2001
FY 2002
FY 2003
FY 2004

$160,000
$48,000
$88,000
$48,000
$110,000

Option -B - (with additional funding)
With additional funding, the GCMRC can purchase additional Oracle consulting
time for more rapid database development in FY 2000 and continued development and
refinement in subsequent years. Beyond FY 2000, there is currently minimal money
available for additional Oracle consulting for database development and refinement.
However, the adaptive management process could benefit from a more highly developed
and refined Oracle database primarily in the areas of more sophisticated user and web
interfaces and the addition of knowledge discovery tools. The proposed plan B budget
allows for retaining a full time Oracle consultant for all of FY2000 and half time for
subsequent years.

November 5, 1998
Second Draft - Do Not Cite, Photocopy, or Distribute
