SAGUACHE _ The Saguache Board of County Commissioners first read about <br />the possible purchase of the BlIca by the federal government from the Valley <br />Courier and, on Dec. 7, the suggested hind sale was added to the agenda for t~~ day. <br />. The agenda item included discussion on the'effects of such a sale on the cItIzens <br />ofthe county Joe Alexander said, "What can we do to slow this down?" He wanted <br />more inform~tion on the affects of such a sale:on the water issues facing the county. <br />Robin Cites stated that a letter to ScottMc Ginnie would help. They learned that <br />there was going to be a meeting in Alamosa cpncerningthe sale and future "Park", <br />all the Commissioners agreed that they ne~ded to go, and hear . <br /> <br />. They felt that- for the <br />, public's sake, guarantee of no water loss to the valley was an issue. <br />, What would be the side affects of ,a tax revenue loss, that they <br />roughly figured At the meeting would be in the neighborhood of <br />$70,OOO.? <br />This could greatly impact the Moffat School district. They also <br />knew that there were issuesior private property owners and access <br />to cross land that would have to beiresolved. Safety issue to get <br />people off the Baca if there were to ~e a fire. It also presented the <br />issue of a sizeable amount of federal land in the county. <br />They were not approached by anyo~e to address these issues, so <br />for the publie's sake, they drafted a ~esolution of Opposition that <br />stAted: . <br />a.
