God only knows what the charges <br />will be when these meters go bad and need replacement. <br />To date we haven't been infonned as to what the City will <br />charge for our once-owned water; however, Its a safe bet <br />.\he cilY will reap a huge profit on this takeover. <br />i The fanners of the valley were very fortunale they had <br />the power of the vote when Stockmans Water tried to put <br />them out of business by making fanning too expensive; <br />otherwise, they may have gotten the same rotten deal the <br />propeny owners of East Alamosa got. Buhr <br />Alamosa <br /> <br />To the Editor, <br />The elections are over and amendments 15 and '16 were <br />soundly defeated; therefore, the valleys walers is safe until <br />the neX! crisis, The defeat of these amendments was <br />brought about by a massive campaign to infonn the voters <br />of the negative impact of these amendments and the <br />people getling out and voting, <br />In the case of East Alamosa water system begin turned <br />over to the city of Alamosa, the property owners did not <br />have the luxury-of a vote. This action was taken wilhout <br />any input from or the consent of the property owners who <br />also owned this water system, . <br />Prior to this takeover, public meeting were held by the <br />board of directors for East Alamosa Water and Sewer <br />District. These meetings were not called to receive input: <br />of peoples views, they were only to infonn them of what <br />was to come. <br />The ex-owners of the East Alamosa water syslem are <br />now being assessed $600,00 per account for water meters <br />that were installed against our wishes This is in the excess, <br />of a quarter of a million dollars to be paid by the property: . <br />owners of East Alamosa to monitorthe usage of two wells, ',' <br />(one which is shut down during the winter months,) In .' <br />addition to the $600.00 assessment,t/1ey will also charge I <br />4 1/2 percent interest isone wants to make paymen\S:Once: . <br />paid for, the city will own the meters, We will also bel <br /> <br />\ <br />, <br />
