<br />2 <br /> <br />The new project as now designed, is composed of <br />4 darns and reservoirs extending a distance of 35 miles down <br />the Gunnif;on River from a point about 10 miles .below_the <br />City of Gunnison. The 4 darns will have an installed capacity <br />of 152,000 KW and will cost $91,000,000. These costs include <br />480 miles of transmission line and 13 substations. It is <br />estimated that the power can be placed at market points at <br />a cost of 5.94 mills per KW hour. <br />The new study indicates that the benefit cost ratio <br />will be 1.6 which is about the required 1.0. A feasibility <br />study must follow the status report just rendered - the one <br />which gi VE'S the figures quoted above. However, it seems <br />there is no doubt but what the new project will fulfill <br />all requirements. At the present time the Curecanti Unit <br />is in the Upper Colorado River Storage Bill subject to a <br />feasibility report and certification to Congress and to the <br />President by the Secretary of the Interior that in his <br />judgment the benefits of this unit will exceed its costs. <br />
