necessary to provide capacity for floodflows originating down-
stream from the dams.

30 . SELECTED PLAN

a. General. In the Sand Creek basin, the selected plan
of improvement consists of the Sand Creek dam and reservoir, the
Toll Gate Creek dam and reservoir, and the improvement of the
Sand Creek channel between East Colfax Avenue and the South
Platte River and the Toll Gate Creek channel between the dam
and Sand Creek.

b. Sand Creek dam and reservoir. The potential Sand
Creek dam and reservoir would be designed to store the standard
project flood. The emergency spillway would be perched 17 feet
above the standard project flood pool and would control about 36
percent of the spillway design flood. In addition, the reservoir
would be designed to contain storage for 100 years of sediment
runoff. A gated-outlet works with a low-level inlet would be
provided to regulate reservoir releases. The outlet works
would consist of a concrete intake structure, a concrete conduit,
and a stilling basin at the downstream end of the conduit.
Pertinent data for the potential Sand Creek dam and reservoir
are shown in table 10.

55
