Since 1991, up to 5,500 af (less 69 af of transportation <br />losses) of City of Albuquerque SJ-C water in Abiquiu Reservoir has been used to <br />replace sediment deposition and evaporative losses in Jemez Canyon Reservoir. Such <br />water is provided by contract between the City of Albuquerque and New Mexico <br />Interstate Stream Commission (NMISC), dated February 21,1986 and amended May <br />16,1991. <br /> <br />..~ , <br />~~! <br /> <br />In 1998, the City of Albuquerque, in an agreement with the NMISC, again offered an <br />additional 1,500 af to help fill the sediment space. A total of 5,798 af was released from <br />Abiquiu from January to April, November, and December. It suffered 75 af of <br />transportation losses, yielding an annual total of 5,723 af. Due to construction activity <br />at Abiquiu and the requirement to release as much incoming Rio Grande water as <br />possible, there were no releases in November and December. <br /> <br />I> <br />-. <br /> <br />'.- <br /> <br />Table 8 shows the estimated accumulated sediment deposition and SJ-C contents in <br />Abiquiu Reservoir, Cochiti Lake, and Jemez Canyon Reservoir for 1998. <br /> <br />.... <br />: :~; I <br /> <br />M&I Water Use National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Compliance <br /> <br />I <br />;~~; 1 <br />, .~. <br />.:..,.. <br /> <br />Reclamation will serve as the lead agency for the City of Albuquerque's Drinking Water <br />Supply Project EIS which is addressing the City's plan to directly use its SJ-C water for <br />MOl purposes. Interagency workshops have been held and monthly interagency <br />workgroup meetings are held to discuss various aspects of this and other City projects. <br />Coordination with Native Americans is ongoing. The formal EIS process will likely begin <br />in 1999. <br /> <br />~ -, <br />;:,' <br /> <br />,.-;- <br /> <br />:>~ <br /> <br />Reclamation will serve as the lead agency for the City of Santa Fe's Water <br />Management and River Restoration Strategy EIS which also involves the City's direct <br />use of its SJ-C water supply.
