<br />0022:L!. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />support to relocate the tailings to a remote site, Included in the Board folder is a copy of that letter, <br /> <br />Also included in the Board folder is a copy of a resolution by the National Association of <br />Counties supporting HR 393 (Miller-CA) and HR 1559 (Cannon-VT) and other legislation to clean <br />up the Atlas uranium mill tailings, <br /> <br />Perchlorate Contamination in the Lis Vegas Wash <br /> <br />Included in the Board folder, as an informational item, is a copy of the letter that has been <br />forwarded to the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EP A), on behalf of the <br />Board, requesting its support in cleaning up the perchlorate contamination in the Colorado River <br />emanating from the Henderson, Nevada area, Kerr-MeGee, the company from whose property the <br />contamination is emanating, has agreed to intercept the groundwater contamination at its property <br />line, and divert it to on-site evaporation ponds, The Colorado River Board's letter requested that the <br />EP A assist the Southern Nevada Water Authority in intercepting the groundwater contamination off- <br />site of Kerr-MeGee's property before it can reach Las Vegas Wash and enter the Colorado River. <br />During the July 8th Basin states meeting, representatives from Nevada indicated that they are about <br />to reach agreement with Kerr-McGee on clean-up of the ground water contamination off-site of the <br />Kerr-McGee property. <br /> <br />(' <br /> <br />~e.~~ __J."-"'- <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Gerald R, Zimmerman <br />Executive Director <br /> <br />7 <br />
