WATER RESOlJRCRS

C'?
M
C\l
...-i

Water Shortage

1. Question - What are the annual.water shortages in the project area?

Answer

- Bureau studies show the following annual shortages on
presently irrigated lands:

Maximum Average
shortage shortage
(percent) (percent)
Savery Creek area 56 30
Little Snake River above Dixon 36 16
Little Snake River below Dixon 70 46
Willow Creek and Putt Creek 63 53
Slater Creek area 67 39

The project would also provide water for an additional
14,410 acres.

2. Question - What effect would the project have on availabl~ water in
a drought year such as this year?

Answer

- In this drought year the two reservoirs would not fill,
and carryover storage would be negligible for Sandstone
Reservoir and considerably reduced in Pot Hook Reservoir,

This year, had the project been constructed, shortages on
project land would have approached 30% for about 29,000
acres of supplemental and full service land. Without the
project, 'shortages will probably approach 50% for presently
irrigated land.
