Colorado River Storage Project, Arizona. <br /> <br />On July 27, 1989, the Secretary of the loterior directed the Bureau of <br />Reclamation (Reclamation) to prepare an environmental impact statement to <br />reevaluate Glen Canyon Dam operations. The purpose of this reevaluation is to <br />determine specific options that could be implemented~onsistent with law-to <br />minimize adverse impacts on the dovmstream environmental and cultural <br />resources and Native American interests in Glen and Grand Canyons. <br /> <br />The DEIS presents analyses of the impacts of nine alternatives for operating Glen <br />Canyon Dam. Two alternatives. including no action (historic operations), would <br />allow unrestricted hourly fluctuations in river flow; four would provide various <br />levels of restricted fluctuating nows; and three would provide steady flows. <br />Additional measures have been combined with the alternative operations, where <br />appropriate, to provide additional resource protection or enhancement.
