<br />00235~ <br /> <br />CHAPI'ER III <br /> <br />PROJECT DEVELOPMENT <br />(Yellow Jacket urlit) <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Water in the Yellow Jacket Canal bypassing the Yellow Jacket area <br />would be tunneled through the Yellow Jacket Pass and then would flow in a <br />natural channel to Milk Creek. On Milk Creek the diverted water, along <br />With excess flows of the creek, would be regulated at the potential <br />Thornburgh Reservoir. Water from the reservoir would be released to the <br />Axial Canal as required for use in the Axial Basin area. The Axial Canal <br />would extend northwest from 14ilk Creek and would serve lands along the <br />southern side of the Axial Basin. A lateral would branch from this canal <br />to serve lands in the Axial Basin area east of Milk Creek. <br /> <br />Stabilization work would be done on portions of natural stream <br />channels that would be used for conveyance of the unit water supply, <br />including portions of Little Beaver, Coal, and Milk Creeks, and the <br />natural.channel between Yellow Jacket Pass and Thornburgh Reservoir. <br />Laterals would be provided for distribution of the water to full service <br />lands. Existing distribution systems on the presently irrigated lands <br />would be ade~uate for use with unit develoJ;ment. Drainage work re~uired <br />for the lands would consist primarily of cleaning and straightening of <br />natural channelB. <br /> <br />Design and construction <br /> <br />. Trappers Lake Reservoir <br /> <br />Trappers Lake Reservoir on the White River would have an active <br />capacity of 23,600 acre-.feet. Tills storage capacity would be located <br />entirely above the present water surface elevation of Trappers Lake. The <br />dam forming the reservoir would be a rolled earth-fill structure 65 feet <br />in height above streambed and 1,900 feet long at the crest. The outlet <br />works, with a capacity of 325 second-feet, would be a concrete-lined <br />conduit through the center of the dam. An uncontrolled spillway, with a <br />capacity of about 2,500 second-feet, would also be provided for the dam. <br /> <br />Thornbu:gh Reeervoir <br /> <br />Thornburgh Reservoir on Milk Creek would have a capacity of 31,500 <br />acre-feet, including 31,000 acre-feet of active capacity and 500 acre-feet <br />for storage of sediment. The reservoir would have a maximum water surface <br />elevation of 6,108 feet. Thornburgh Dam would be a rolled earth-fill <br />structure 118 feet in height above streambed and 750 feet long at the crest. <br />The outlet works ands~llway would be located in the exposed sandstone <br />ridge fOrmiog the right abutment of the dam.
