<br />1989 Year in Review
<br />
<br />C fOp production within the
<br />NCWCD 10 1989 was primarily
<br />affected by two factors: 1) below
<br />average precipitation, and 2) above
<br />normal temperatures during the
<br />growing season.
<br />
<br />July. had a negative Influence on the
<br />Yields of many crops. However, when
<br />companng 1989 total yields
<br />throughout the NCWCD to 1988
<br />yields. most crops were unchanged
<br />to slightly lower.
<br />
<br />improve, Alfalfa hay and dry beans
<br />were leaders in this area. In many
<br />cases alfalfa prices reached near
<br />record levels.
<br />
<br />A three-week period 01 record setting
<br />high temperatures. starting in early
<br />
<br />01 importance is that agricultural
<br />commodity prices continued Ie

<br />Overall. 1989 crop productlon and
<br />valuations were one of the strongest
