This is only 62 percent of average. While snow conditions in the Upper Colorado River <br />basin improved somewhat in January, much drier than nonnal conditions in the basin still prevail. <br />Snowpack in the Upper Colorado River basin, as of February 8, is 64 percent of average. <br /> <br />Releases from Glen Canyon Dam during January averaged about 13.000 cfs. Releases during <br />February will be somewhat lower, averaging about 11,300 cfs. Weekday "on peak" releases in <br />February (late afternoon and early evening) will likely reach about 13,500 cfs. Weekend on peak <br />releases should reach about 12,500 cfs. "Off peak" releases (late evening and early morning) will <br />likely be about 8000 cfs on all days. . <br /> <br />Unless there is a significant flux of moisture into the Colorado River basin in the next few months, <br />we are looking at the first dry year in the basin since 1994. Because of this, releases this spring and <br />summer are likely to be lowest experienced since 1994. <br />
