The following are output file types are created, depending on the input file specifications:

*.sum - summary of the input information

*-obc - detailed results of calculation based on the Blaney-Criddle ET and/or the Kimberly Penman
method

*.owb - summarized results of the basin-wide water budget using Blaney-Criddle and/or Kimberly
Penman.

*.prj - total project consumptive use by months and by years for evapotranspiration

*.Iog - contains program execution history for the run_cu program

2.3 Importing SPMAP Data

I. Select the File> Import SPMAP Data option. A file name and location is decided first. As
discussed earlier, the common file (* .cmn) is the main input file and the rest of the input and output
files will be saved in the same location. You may want to create a directory in explorer or MSDOS
before you select the file location and name,

2. Next, several windows will be displayed for selecting text files created by SPMAP.

. *.tcmn - This is a common template file when this file is selected the *-tkbc, *.tkkp, *.tsup,
*-twbc, *.twel, and *.twkp files with the same basenames will also be selected. Template files
contain information about crop types, weather or other modeling parameters that are not
necessary specific to the site. A specific site could have several templates that have different
modeling options that would use the same site specific data.
. *.txt - This file contains specific information about the area selected in SPMAP, including the
area, crop data, weather stations, and the ditches or wells specific to the area.
. *.mas - Two files should be selected with the master extension, one file contains surface water
and the other file contains groundwater data. These files contain water supply data, and are
typically located in the spmap directory and named ditches.mas and wells.mas. Specific
information for the area specified in the text file will be used from the master files depending
on the names of the ditches and/or wells.

2.4 Opening Input Files

Input files have a standard file format and can be created in a text editor according to the formats
specified in (See Section 3.0 "Input File Formats" on page 15). A much easier and more comprehensive
approach is to use the SPMAP interface to create the input files for the CD Model. This is described in
"Section 2.3: Importing SPMAP Data" on page 4. This manual will assume the input files were created in
SPMAP.

Version J,J

4
