<br />i <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />, <br />~for consumptive use from the mainstream in Arizona, California, <br />f'~ <br />,#-f~ ' <br />- .and Nevada. <br /><=> <br /> <br />11. lower Colorado River Basin development fund is established <br /> <br />i <br />~hich will financially assist the <br /> <br />Central Arizona Pr07~ct and aug- <br /> <br />mentation works which may hereafter be authorized by the Congress. <br /> <br />The revenue sources for this fund, in addition to the Central Arizona <br /> <br />Project are the Hoover and Parker-Davis projects and that part of <br /> <br />the Pacific Northwest-Pacific SOl1thwest power intertie located in <br /> <br />,the States of Arizona and Nevada. l1ith respect to the revenues <br /> <br />iaCCrUing to this fund from the Hoover and Parker-Davis projects, <br /> <br />I. . <br />,only that part der~ved from the sale of power and energy for use <br />I <br /> <br />lin Arizona will be available for assistance to the Central Arizona <br />i <br />Ip , <br />i rOJect. <br /> <br />I The Act also includes provisions for implementing the Colorado <br /> <br />jRiver Compact and the decree of the Supreme Court in Arizona v. <br />I <br />!california. These provisions establish guidelines for w,\!ter man- <br /> <br />agemcnt throughout the Colorado River Basin and assure equitable <br />a..cI <br />treatment of all seven States of the Basin now^in the future. <br /> <br />CENTRAL ARIZONA PROJECT <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Central Arizona project facilities ,authorized ,~.:l._n".,/'!;.,"'~ will <br /> <br />coordinate the use of Colorado River water and the local water re- <br /> <br />sources of the Gila River Basin to provide water for the rapidly <br /> <br />cxpc\l1ding metropolitan areas of Phoenix and 'rucson,for agricultural <br /> <br />areas presently dependent upon severly over-drafted ground water <br /> <br />basins, and for other water-deficient areas of Arizona and western <br /> <br />New Mexico through direct diversion or exchange of water.
