Also, in connection with the San Juan-Chama project, the <br />reservoir constitutes a source of supply for downstream irrigation <br />~sers in exchange for natural flow diverted upstream. <br />Glen Canyon <br />I <br /> <br />The Glen Canyon Dam is located on the Colorado River in northern <br /> <br />i <br />I <br />Arizona, <br />, ' <br /> <br />about 13 miles downstream from the Utah-Arizona State line <br /> <br />~nd 15 miles upstream from Lee Ferry-the division point between the <br />I <br />lower and upper basins. It is a concrete, curved, gravity-type <br />structure rising 700 feet above bedrock. The reservoir, with a <br />I <br />I <br />~otal capacity of 27 million acre-feet, provide~final regulation <br />I <br />, <br />~or deliveries to the lower basin under the ColOrado River compact. <br />bhe powerplant located near th~ toe of the dam, has a total installed <br />~apacity of 900,000 kilO\~atts. <br /> <br />PARTICIPATING PROJECTS <br /> <br />The Central Utah project (initial phase)' ,is' located in the <br /> <br />rastern Bonneville Basin in Central Utah and in the Uinta Basin, part <br /> <br />rf the Colorado River Basin in northeastern U~ah.
