<br />HIGHLIGHTS OF 1973 OPERATION <br /> <br />Carryover storage reserves in all areas were above normal at the <br />beginning of the water year. <br /> <br />Winter precipitation was generally normal or better in ;3.11 areas <br />except the eastern and western slopes of Colorado. <br /> <br />Movement of surplus waters on the North Platte River System started <br />on March 21. <br /> <br />Snowpacks below normal in all areas on April 1. <br /> <br />ExtremelY heavy snow over North Platte River Basin in late April. <br /> <br />Cool weather over system until mid-May and near normal thereafter. <br /> <br />Glendo Reservoir storage of 759,000 acre-feet on May 28 maximum <br />of record. <br /> <br />r'" <br /> <br />Total inflow to the North Platte River System during May of 1,100,000 <br />acre-feet was the maximum of record since 1909 and equal to the <br />average annual inflow. <br /> <br />Pathfinder Reservoir storage was in the surcharge pool for 42 days <br />in May, June, and July during the controlled Pathfinder spill <br />operation. <br /> <br />Seminow Reservoir filled to capacity in July after spilling 430,000 <br />acre-feet during the controlled Pathfinder spill operation. <br /> <br />Green Mountain Reservoir filled in July with 106 percent of normal <br />snowmelt runoff. <br /> <br />Lake Granby filled to capacity in J~ly with 119 percent of noraml <br />snowmelt runoff. <br /> <br />July precipitation averaged much above normal for the system. <br /> <br />Anrll-July snowmelt runoff was normal or above throughout the <br />system except at Buffalo Bill Reservoir. <br /> <br />Surplus water on the.
