Chapman,
Undersecretary of the Interior, on Sunday, June 5, 1949. This
reservoir serves to re-regulate the imported waters discharged
from the Estes Power Plant and to provide a uniform rate of out-
flow to the Estes-Foothills Power System. Lake Estes covers an
area of 163 acres and has a capacity of 2,481 acre-feet at eleva-
tion 7475, including 450 acre-feet of operation capacity. Under
normal conditions, the reservoir will be operated to pass all Big
Thompson River flows except those diverted for power purposes.
Completion of the reservoir included the construction of Olympus
Dam and the relocation of appurtenant public utilities. Excellent
fishing and boating privileges are available at this attractive
lake, and arrangements for other recreational facilities are
under way.

19
