<br /> <br />Recreation. <br /> <br />Summary of Construction Progress. <br /> <br />The first large unit of work Undertaken on the Western Slope <br />was construction of the Green Mountain Dam and Power Plant. These <br />features were completed and placed in operation on Ma,y 18, 1943. <br />This was followed by completion of the Alva B. Adams Tunnel and <br />Shadow Mountain Dam. Construction of Granby Dam and Dikes, started <br />in 1942 but stopped for the duration of the war, has been completed <br />and the contract for construction of the Granby Pumping Plant, <br />awarded in 1947, is nearing completion. The 2.2-mile Granby Canal <br />has been completed. Work on Colorado River Improve1llBnts has been <br />carried on concurrently with other Western Slope features. <br /> <br />On the Eastern Slope, aqueduct features between the Alva B. <br />Adams Tunnel and Lake Estes have been completed and the construc- <br />tion of Marys Lake and Estes Power Plants is nearing completion. <br />Lake Estes and Olympus Dam. on the Big Thompson River were completed <br />in 1949 and construction of Olympus Siphon and the Olympus and Pole <br />:!lill Tunnels is in progress. Horsetooth Reservoir and Dams and <br />four tunnels for the Horsetooth Feeder Canal have been completed. <br />Construction is also Under way on canal sections linking the <br />tunnels, on the Horsetooth Supply Conduit, and on the Poudre Supply <br />Canal. Construction of the Carter Lake Pressure Tunnel and Carter <br />Lake Dams Nos. 1, 2, and 3 is scheduled to start in 1950. <br /> <br />6 <br />
