For <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />most crops, fixed charges such as taxes, interest, insurance, etc., and <br /> <br />the costs of bringing the crop to maturity such as preparing the seed <br /> <br />bed, planting, fertilizing, and cultivating, will be about the same <br /> <br />regardless of the yield except that with an assured water supply the <br /> <br />benefit resulting fram greater care may warrant an increase in such <br /> <br />case. The labor cost for irrigating will be increased in part by the <br /> <br />addition of extra irrigations and in part by improved practices war- <br /> <br />ranted by the greater production. The cost of harvesting and market- <br /> <br />ing will increase almost in direct proportion to the yield; some gain <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />per unit accruing because of increased efficiency. <br /> <br />19 <br />
