Ignacio at elevation 64~5, in the shallow valley of Pine

River, is absut 500 feet below the Gverage elevation of the project,

but its record will more nearly fit the climate of the project than

will that of Durango.

On Plate 1 are plotted the periods between killing frosts

for the years from 1914 to date. From these the growing season ap-

pears to be 130 to 135 days. This is sufficient to mature the crops

raised under present c0nditions, which include a few orchards, and
