Project lands are located
on the west side of the Crystal River and the 'outh side of
the Colorado River, extending from near Carbondale to
DeBeque, Colorado.

~:

The present multi-purpose project plan provi.des for the construction
of facilities to supply irrigation water to 24,165 acres of new
and 21,265 acres of supplemental service land. Irrigation water
for the major portion of the project will be stored in two reser-
voirs, Placita Reservoir on the Crystal River and Haystack Reser-
voir on Willow Creek. During the irrigation seaso;} water from
Placita Reservoir will be conveyed through the Huntsman Conduit
to West Divide Creek. West Divide Canal will divert from West
Divide Creek to serve the project lands to the west while the
East Divide Canal will divert from West Divide Creek to serve
the lands to the east. The potential Haystack Reservoir will be
used to reduce the capacity of Huntsman Conduit during the peak
irrigation season.

The lands in the Carbondale area will be served from the Yank
Creek Reservoir. Two canals will supply this area, the Fourmile
Canal, diverting from North Thompson Creek below Yank Creek Dam,
and the Edgerton c..nal, diverting from Edgerton Creek.

The project will also provide 15,000 acre-feet of water annually
for municipal purposes. Storage for this municipal water will
be provided in Placita Reservoir and two small reservoirs--one
located near Rifle, Colorado, !lnd the second on Morrisania Mesa.

Placita Reservoir will also provide storage for flood control,
fishery, reduction in stream polution, and recreation.

COSTS (Final costs are not yet available, tentative costs are as
follows) :

Construction Costs
Reservoirs
Irrigation
Placita .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Haystack . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Yank Cr eek . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
M&I
Grass Mesa

~rrisania . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

. . $11,250,000
.. 4,450,000
. 6,200,000

. .

2,291,000
5,400,000

. . . .

. . .

. .

. . .

. . . .
