<br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL <br />PROTECTION AGENCY <br /> <br />N <br />'r,a <br />W <br />N OTHER AGENCIES <br /> <br />, <br /> <br /> <br />EP A is charged with the national leadership to implement Section 319 of the Watet <br />Quality Act. All NPS assessment reports, management programs and updates must <br />be approved by the Agency. In addition, EP A provides grants, when available, to the <br />states to carry out the 319 program. <br /> <br />The agencies listed represent those involved in approving projects for funding under ' <br />the provisions of the Water Quality Act. HoweVer, many other agencies are involved <br />in water quality in Colorado. For instance, the Soil ConserVation ServiCe prepares <br />project implementation plans and provides technical assistance to agricultural <br />projects on private land. The Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service <br />are actively pursuing water quality improvement on their lands. The Colorado Slate <br />Soil Conservation Board provides direction to soil conservation,districts on water <br />quality issues and also sponsors projects. The Colorado Division of Mined Land <br />Reclamation is instrumental in developing projects addressing nonpoint pollution ' <br />from mining activity. The Denver Regional Council of Governments serves as the , <br />primary organi7.ation dealing with water quality in the urban setting. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Prepared by the USDA Soil Conservation Service in cooperation with the Colorado Nonpoint Source Task Force.
