The <br /> <br />upstream face of the dam would be protected by a 3-foot layer of <br /> <br />rock riprap placed on an 18-inch gravel blankEt, The downstream <br /> <br />face would be covered with 12 inches of soil and seeded to grass. <br /> <br />An lmcontrolled concrete spillway di.scharging into a chute and <br /> <br />stilling basin, and an outlet works for releasing stored water <br /> <br />to the river would be located on the left (north) side of the dam. <br /> <br />An outlet to the Fort Morgan Canal would be located on the right <br /> <br />(south) side of the dam. In addition to the dam, three dikes would <br /> <br />be constructed across low areas around the reservoir. <br /> <br />Some statistics on the Narrows Dam are as follows: <br /> <br />Height above streambed <br />Crest length <br />Crest width <br />Crest elevation <br />Volume of embankment <br />Spillway capacity (peak <br />discharge) <br /> <br />146 ft. <br />22,120 ft. <br />30 ft. <br />4453.0 m.s.l. <br />8,840,000 cu. yds. <br /> <br />27,600 c. f. s . <br /> <br />The Narrows Reservoir would have a total controlled capacity <br /> <br />of 973,185 acre-feet and a surface area of 25,245 acres at the top <br /> <br />of the flood control pool, Of that capacity, 373,025 acre-feet <br /> <br />would be for conservation (principally irrigation) storage, and <br /> <br />7 <br />
