Work within stream channels will be
kept to a minimum. When prolonged work in a stream ~hannel is
necessary, the stream will be diverted by cofferdams, cbannels,
flumes, or othe~ tempQra~y WQ~ks. TempoTary contamination ~f
streamflows may occur during construction in stream channels. All
applicable laws and regulations will be complied with.

3. Explosives, Drilling and Blasting

The transportaiton, handling, storage, and use of explosives shall
be subject to the provisions of "Subpart U - Blasting and the Vse
of Explosives" of the Department of Labor Safety and Health
Regulations for Construction Manual, the applicable provisions of
the Bureau of Reclamation supplement thereto, and the regulations
of the DepaTtment of the Treasury contained in 26 CFR 181,
Commerce in Explosives.

.

The contractor maintains an inventory record of storage and withdrawal
of all explosives. Pressure tanks
used in the suppression equipment shall conform to American Society
of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,
Section VIII, for Vnfired Pressure Vessels. Equipment and solutions
used shall be suitable for operation in freezing weather. Except
for underground excavation, dust-control devices are not required
on jackbammers, provided the operators wear approved r.ust
respirators when dust concentrations exceed safe hygienic 'imits.

.

V-3
