To transport this western slope water under the Continental Divide,
the Board leased the pilot bore for the Moffat Railroad Tunnel and enlarged and improved
it for use as a water tunnel. The Moffat Water Treatment Plant was constructed west of the City
to process water from this new source. And in the summer of 1936, the first Western Slope water flowed
through the Moffat Water Tunnel into South Boulder Creek, then into a system
of conduits and canals running from above Eldorado Springs to the Moffat Treatment Plant
Continued -

. f t r, f
~')~~"~: ~ ~t1 f'
~.
