Snowfall. - Heavy snowfall is general in the mountainous area of <br /> <br />the watershed. The proportion increases in the higher mountain ranges <br /> <br />where snow sometimes remains on the ground throughout the year. The average <br /> <br />monthly and annual snowfall at representative stations in and adjacent to <br /> <br />the basin are shown in table 3. There is only one snow course in the baSin, <br /> <br />WhislroyCreek at elevation 10,300 feet. The courses at La Veta Pass, <br /> <br />elevation 9,300 feet, and Blue Lakes, elevation 10,000 feet, are considered <br /> <br />representative of the Purgatoire watershed at the respective elevations.
