Arizona, s <br />16,000,000 acre-feet ranging from 8,000,000 acre-feet in low years to <br />25,000,000 acre-fe~t in high years. It is evident that a large volume <br />reservoir capacity is required for complete utilization when it is <br />stated that floods of as great as 200,000 second-f.oet have occurred in <br />the lower river. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />~ <br />. <br /> <br />The lower portion of the Colorado River basin is arid in charccter. <br />and the water supply originates chiefly in the high mountains of Wyoming, <br />ColoradO, Utah. and new ltlxi co; 92 per cent of the annual average flew <br />at Yuma, Arizcna comes from the Green. Grand, 8.ljd San Juan Rivers, <br /> <br />At the present time the total area irrig,ted from the Colorado <br />River and its tributories approximates 2,000,000 acres, of which about <br />100,000 acres lie in Old Mexico.
