San Juan-Chama
Water Accounting
Albuquerque Area Office
March 1996

The natural inflow into Heron Reservoir during the month of March was computed to be
420 acre-feet (at) as shown in Table 3. There were 540 af net San Juan-Chama losses,
as shown in Table 2. There were 1400 af of diversions through Azotea Tunnel this month.

There was a total of 160 af of Natural released from Heron (all of which was seepage).
There was a total of 12,520 af of San Juan-Chama water released.

Total precipitation at Heron Reservoir was 1.14 inches which is 67% of average. The
monthly computations for Heron Reservoir are summarized in Tables 1-3.

Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (MRGCD) released from EI Vado 4084 af to pay
back the remaining balance owed the City of Albuquerque (City) pool in Abiquiu, for water
borrowed during the 1995 irrigation season.

Santa Fe released from Heron 2190 af to their pool in Abiquiu, of which 682 af was
released from Abiquiu for depletion to the river below Otowi and 27 af was released from
Abiquiu for depletion above Otowi (per SEO letter dated 3/1/96). The remainder was used
to fill their pool in Abiquiu.

The City released from Heron 520 af to the sediment pool in Jemez, and 9608 af to
MRGCD in EI Vado. Additionally, they released 271 af from Abiquiu, borrowed for Cochiti.

Bernalillo released 139 af to MRGCD in EI Vado and released for payback 60 af to City in
Abiquiu (per SEO letter dated 12/4/95).

Total inflow into Nambe Falls Reservoir was computed to be 232 af. Evaporation loss on
the reservoir was 12 af. Table 4 summarizes San Juan-Chama water at Otowi.

Estimated sediment deposition in the San Juan-Chama pools at Abiquiu and Jemez
Canyon Reservoirs, and Cochiti Lake are presented in Tables 5A-5C.

Storage and evaporation of Rio Grande water in EI Vado and Abiquiu Reservoirs are
shown in Table 6.

All data are provisional and subject to revision as final data are collected and analyzed.
