San Juan-Chama
Water Accounting
Albuquerque Area Office
January 1996

The natural inflow into Heron Reservoir during the month of January was computed to be
150 acre-feet (at) as shown in Table 3. Net San Juan-Chama losses were -110 af as
shown in Table 2. There were no diversions through Azotea Tunnel this month.

There was a total of 240 af of Natural released from Heron (including 150 af of seepage).
There was a total of 1530 af of San Juan-Chama water released.

Total precipitation at Heron Reservoir was 0.97 inches which is 72% of average. The
monthly computations for Heron Reservoir are summarized in Tables 1-3.

1361 af was released from Cochiti's allocation in Heron to offset losses to the Cochiti
Recreation Pool. 164 afwas released from Nambe Falls allocation in Heron, to Abiquiu,
towards the payback to the City of Albuquerque.

MRGCD paid back 11,107 af from EI Vado to the City of Albuquerque pool in Abiquiu, for
water borrowed during the 1995 irrigation season. As of the end of January, the balance
remaining was 14,233 af.

Total inflow into Nambe Falls Reservoir was computed to be 232 af. Evaporation loss on
the reservoir was 1 af. Table 4 summarizes San Juan-Chama water at Otowi.

Estimated sediment deposition in the San Juan-Chama pools at Abiquiu and Jemez
Canyon Reservoirs, and Cochiti Lake are presented in Tables 5A-5C.

Storage and evaporation of Rio Grande water in EI Vado and Abiquiu Reservoirs are
shown in Table 6.

All data are provisional and subject to revision as final data are collected and analyzed.
