The market area covered
by the survey is shown on the map on the following page.

It is estimated that in addition to capacity and generation from
existing and scheduled plants in the market area, not including scheduled
plants of the Colo:ra~o River St~rage project, abcut 3,659,000 kilowatts
of generating capacity and 14,315,000,000 kilo.att-hours of generation
will be needed by 1970 to meet new power requirements throu3hout the
market area. The estimated additional requiremcntG for 1970 and 1980 are
summarized below.

Addit~.onal power and~nergy requirements

.

Divi-
sion
No.
r
II
III
IV
V
VI

Principal
State
Nevada
Arizona
Utah
Colorado
Wyoming
new Mey.1co
Total

1970
Million
kilbwa'tt-
hours
1,247
2,871
4,612
4,708
674
201
14,313

Thousand
kilowatts
22I:J
954
936
1,146
194
201
3,659

Thousand
kilowatts
500
2,806
1,881
2,538
478
496
8,699

1980
Million
kilowatt-
hours
2,7I:J3
11,770
9,942
12,134
2,170
1,802
40,601

POl?ez:plants are presently planned at three 01' the four authorized
uilits of the Colorado River Storage project and at the Central Utah par-
ticipating project. With allol?8IlCeS made for peak load. transmission
losses, an estimated 1,109,000 kilowatts of power oan be delivered to
load centers.

Pm?er Production

Future power production has been estimated on the basis of coordi-
nated reservoir operation studies as previously discussed. In accord-
ance with the operation studies, power production will cOll1lJlence at the
beginning of F1soal Year 1965 at the Glen Canyon and Flaming Gorge units,
in Fiscal Year 1970 at the Curecanti unit, and in Fiscal Year 1974 at the
Central Utah projeot. All powe:rplants will be completed and in full pro-
duction by about the end of Fiscal Year 1985. The schedule of estimated
energy deliverable to load centers is shown in the table on page 23.

21

.
