.

The accompanying bar chart shows the historic annual flow and the
estimated annual virgin (or undepleted) flow at the Lee Ferry compact

point for the 73-year period, 1896 to 1968 inclusive. The chart

shows also the la-year PlOving averages of virgin flow. The longtiJlle

average annual virgin flow is nearly 15 million acre-feet. The
minimum year (1934) was about 6 million acre-feet and the maximum
year (1917) about 24 million acre-feet.

The following table shows the estimated average annual virgin flows

for various significant time periods.

.

Event

Period

Average annual
Years virgin flow
million acre-feet

Colorado River Compact
Boulder Canyon Project
Upper Colorado River Compact
Studies of Colorado River B~sin Proj.
Studies of Colorado River Basin Proj.
Current Studies
Actual record at Lee Ferry
Progress Report No.4 on W.Q.
Lowest la-year period of record
Lowest 12-year period of record

1903-1921
1897-1928
1914-1945
1906-1965
1906-1967
1906-1968
1922-1968
1941-1966
1931-1940
1953-1964

19
32
32
60
62
63
47
26
10
12

18.0
16.9
15.6
15.1
15.0
15.0
13.8
13.5
11.8
11.6

Present Level Flow at Glen Canyon Damsite

For purposes of projecting future operations of the reservoirs, the

past flows of the Colorado River at the Lees Ferry gaging station were

corrected for the difference between past depletions and the present

level depletions to represent flows as they would be with present

.

3
