<br /> <br />-el.l~~""'" o~ <br />l1EJlU OF RECL"tA"'\'\ <br /> <br />Western Colorado Area Office <br />Southern Division <br />Durango, Colorado <br />Don Fazzan (970) 385-6578 <br />For Release: April 23, 1997 <br /> <br />RECEIVED <br />APR 2 8 1997 <br /> <br />Colorado Water <br />Conservation Bolll<f <br /> <br />NAVAJO RESERVOIR RELEASE SCHEDULE <br /> <br />The coordinated release schedule for Navajo Reservoir has been determined in <br />cooperation with members of the San Juan River Recovery Impiementation Program <br />(SJRRIP), The following release schedule is based on a current April-July inflow <br />forecast of 1,030,000 acre-feet (133% of average): <br /> <br />. Releases will remain at 600 cfs (cubic feet per second) through May 11, 1997, <br /> <br />. Releases will be increased from 600 cfs to 5,000 cfs during the period May 12 <br />through May 21, in daily increments of approximately 550 cfs, <br /> <br />. Releases will remain at 5,000 cfs from May 21 through June 9, <br /> <br />. Releases will be decreased from 5,000 cfs to 600 cfs during the period June 10 <br />through July 25, Flow decreases will be made in weekly increments of 700 cfs each <br />Monday. <br /> <br />. Releases will remain at approximately 600 cfs through the summer, Flows may be <br />adjusted after July 25 in order to maintain a minimum flow of 500 cfs at Shiprock, <br />New Mexico, <br /> <br />Daily release changes will be made in increments of not more than 200 cfs in any <br />2-hour period, Release changes will be made during the hours of 7:00 a.m, and <br />3:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Any changes in the release schedule which may be required due to extraordinary <br />circumstances will be announced in subsequent news releases, <br /> <br />For further information, call the Bureau of Reclamation, Western Colorado Area Office, <br />Southern Division, at (970) 385-6500, <br />
