<br />.-.. 4 t"'- <br />GJ.\JcJ <br /> <br />ing of water resource problems among the re- <br />gions represented. <br />Northcutt Ely, Special Counsel to the Board, <br />spoke before Town Hall in Los Angeles, Cali- <br />fornia on December 3, 1968, on the subject <br />"California's Future on the Colorado." <br />On December 5, 1968, the Chief Engineer <br />spoke before the Pacific Southwest Committee <br />of the Irrigation Districts Association during its <br />fall convention in Anaheim, California with re- <br />spect to the recent Colorado River Basin legisla- <br />tion (PL 90-537). <br />The Executive Secretary, Harold Pellegrin, <br />was Program Chairman for the annual meeting <br />of the Colorado River Water Users Association, <br />which met in Las Vegas, Nevada, December <br />12-13, 1968. The Chief Engineer was the key- <br />note speaker for a seven state panel discussion <br />entitled "Let's Look ar Big Red." In his opening <br /> <br />remarks, he said that we are entering into a new' <br />era on the Colorado River with the passage of <br />the Colorado River Basin Project Act (PL 90- <br />537) in September 1968. He pointed out that <br />western water leaders recognize that while sev- <br />eral major issues were resolved and the bill does <br />provide the framework to solve many of the <br />problems of the Basin. a great deal more work <br />must be done to fully accomplish the objectives <br />of the legislation. <br />On December 16, 1968, Mr. Holburt ap- <br />peared before the Water and Power Committee <br />of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce <br />to report on the enacffilent of PL 90-537, the <br />Colorado River Basin Project Act. <br />The Board and staff worked in cooperation <br />with the Colorado River Association in the re- <br />lease of pertinent Colorado River infonnation <br />and data to all the news media. <br /> <br />11 <br />
