<br />RIO GRANDE COMPACT COMMISSION REPORT
<br />RECORDS OF DELIVERIES AND RELEASES
<br />
<br />At the annual meeting of the Compact Commission on March 26, 1998, the records
<br />of deliveries and releases and computations of debits and credits for calendar year 1997
<br />were reported. The records and computations as approved by the Commissioner from
<br />Colorado are reproduced on pages 21-23. The records and computations as approved by the
<br />Commissioners from New Mexico and Texas are reproduced on pages 24-26.

<br />The delivery of water in the Rio Grande at the Colorado-New Mexico State line was
<br />obtained from the record of streamflow near Lobatos, Colorado; the scheduled delivery was
<br />computed as prescribed in Article III.
<br />
<br />The delivery of water by New Mexico to Elephant Butte was computed from the record
<br />of streamflow below Elephant Butte Dam and the record of operation of Elephant Butte
<br />Reservoir; the scheduled delivery was computed as prescribed in the Resolution of the
<br />Commission adopted at the Ninth Annual Meeting held February 22-24, 1948, and published
<br />in this report.

<br />The actual release from Project Storage during the year was measured at gaging
<br />stations below Caballo Dam. During 1997 the New Mexico and Texas Commissioners found
<br />that the actual release of usable water was 799,900 acre-feet. The New Mexico and Texas
<br />Commissioners determined that no spii/ of usable water OCcurred in 1996, and this resulted
<br />' in an accrued credit of 4,600 acre-feet as of January 1, 1998. The Colorado Commissioner
<br />found that the actual release of usable water was 799,900 acre-feet. The Colorado
<br />Commissioner determined that a spii/ of usable water Occurred in 1996, resulting' in a debit
<br />' of 9,800 acre-feet computed as of January 1', 1998.
