<br />" <br /> <br />f:~~l~ <br /> <br />.-. ~%~1:f~~ . <br /> <br />CONTINUING AUTHORITIES PROGRAM <br /> <br />Congress has provided the Corps with standing authorities to study and build water resource projects <br />for specific purposes. The study process and cost sharing differ for each authority. Each also has specified <br />limits on how much Federal money can be spent for a project. This saves development and approval time, <br />and permits quicker responses. The types of problems that can be addressed by the Continuing Authorities. . <br />Program are: <br /> <br />SMALL NAVIGATION IMPROVEMENTS: Authorized by Section 107 of the 1960 River <br />and Harbor Act, as amended; the Federal share may ilot exceed $4 million for each project. <br /> <br />SMALL FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS: Authorized by Section 2OS.of the. 1948 Flood <br />Control Act, as amended; the Federal share may not exceed $5 million for each project. <br /> <br />SNAGGING AND CLEARING FOR FLOOD CONTROL: Authorized by Section 208 of <br />the 1954 Flood Control Act, as amended, the, Federal share may not exceed $500,000 for each project. <br /> <br />EMERGENCY STREAMBANKAND SHORELINE EROSION PROTECTION <br />FOR PUBUC FAClLl'l'lES AND SERVICES: Authorized by Section 14 of the 1946 Flood Control Act, as <br />amended; the Federal share may not e]!:ceed $500,000 for each project. . <br /> <br />HURRICANE AND STORM DAMAGE REDUCTION: Authorized by Section 103 of the . <br />1962 River and Harbor Act, as amended; the Federal share may not exceed $2 million for each project. <br /> <br />. .' . <br />SHORE DAMAGE ATTRIBUTABLE TO FEDERAL NAVIGATION WORKS: <br />. Authorized by Section 111 oflhe 1968 River and Harbor Act, as amended;theF~era1 sbaremay notexceed <br />$2 million for each project. .' . <br /> <br />PROJECT MODIFICATION FOR ENVIRONMENT IMPROVEMENT: Authorized by <br />Section 1135 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986, as amended; the Federal share may not <br />exceed $3.75 million for each project. See the description of this program on page 17. <br /> <br />BENEFICIAL USES OF DREDGED MATERIAL: Authorized by Section 204 of the Water <br />Resources Development Act of 1992.
