Installation by Stone &
Webster for the Edison Company of a 230-kv oil circuit breaker at
Camino in the Camino-Gene branch of the transmission line was
nearly completed at the end of the fiscal year, The Edison and
District telephone systems were interconnected through the switch-
board at the La Verne softening and filtration plant,
The 1945 power contracts relieve the District of all carrying
charges for unused Boulder energy after 1950 and guarantee the
District a substantial income from the sale of Parker energy and
the rental of the District's transmission line and the generating
equipment assigned to the District's service at Boulder Dam. The
District retains its right to use as needed Boulder and Parker
power sufficient to pump approximately 750,000 acre feet per year,
At the close of the fiscal year negotiations were in progress for
the extension of the power supply to the Basic Magnesium project
after the termination of the 1945 agreement on May 31, 1946, The
unexpectedly great demand for power following the end of World
War II raised the question of additional generating capacity at
Boulder Dam, and studies of various plans for new units and the
permanent disposition of unit N7 were requested of the U.
