Consideration of this item was deferred to the next meeting of <br />the COlIIIIIi.ttee. <br /> <br />Fiscal Year 1950 Investi2atians Pro2ram in Colorado <br /> <br />8, The Chairman informed the Committee that Regional Director <br />Larson made a detailed presentation and explanation to the Steering Com- <br />mittee, Blue-South Platte and Gunnison-Arkansas Projects, of an adjusted <br />tentative program of investigations for Fiscal Year 1950 to be performed <br />by Region 4 in Western Colorado. Also, that Mr. Jex had been authorized <br />to expand his organization for expedition of work on the Western Slope, <br />especially the Cliffs-Divide Project (present nomenclature for the Compre- <br />hensive Plan of the Colorado River above Grand Junction) and that in the <br />event additional funds are needed for that work they will be provided. <br />'!be Chairman stated that Mr. Larson had donA a good job of adjusting and <br />presenting the tentative program of investigations and that the alloca- <br />tion of funds to accomplish the contemplated work was still subject to <br />revision by the Washington and Regional Offices of the Bureau of Reclama- <br />tion. <br /> <br />Status of Review of Interim Report on the Initial Phase. Gunnison-Arka~sas <br />Pro1ect. and Report of the Engineering AdvisOT1' Subcommittee <br /> <br />9. '!be Chainnan reviewed the discussions and action taken by the <br />Committee at its last meeting with regard to an appraisal of the following <br />specific phases pertaining to the review of the draft of interim report on <br />the Initial Phase: (a) water supp:q, (b) economic phases of feasibility, <br />(c) flood control, (d) po\~er production and its relation to economic feasi- <br />bility, (e) relation of imported water to existing water supp:q in the <br />Arkansas River Valley, 8.'1d (f) fish, wildlife, and recreation. In that <br />connection the Engineering Advisory Subcommittee was requested to report <br />on its assignments on reviews of the revised Appendix G--Power, together <br />with the Summary Statement Covering Revision in Economic Data, and the <br />Special Report dated September 1949, all of which were submitted by the <br />Regional Director at the request of the Committee. <br /> <br />3 <br />
