Consideration of this item was deferred to the next meeting of the COlIIIIIi.ttee. Fiscal Year 1950 Investi2atians Pro2ram in Colorado 8, The Chairman informed the Committee that Regional Director Larson made a detailed presentation and explanation to the Steering Com- mittee, Blue-South Platte and Gunnison-Arkansas Projects, of an adjusted tentative program of investigations for Fiscal Year 1950 to be performed by Region 4 in Western Colorado. Also, that Mr. Jex had been authorized to expand his organization for expedition of work on the Western Slope, especially the Cliffs-Divide Project (present nomenclature for the Compre- hensive Plan of the Colorado River above Grand Junction) and that in the event additional funds are needed for that work they will be provided. '!be Chairman stated that Mr. Larson had donA a good job of adjusting and presenting the tentative program of investigations and that the alloca- tion of funds to accomplish the contemplated work was still subject to revision by the Washington and Regional Offices of the Bureau of Reclama- tion. Status of Review of Interim Report on the Initial Phase. Gunnison-Arka~sas Pro1ect. and Report of the Engineering AdvisOT1' Subcommittee 9. '!be Chainnan reviewed the discussions and action taken by the Committee at its last meeting with regard to an appraisal of the following specific phases pertaining to the review of the draft of interim report on the Initial Phase: (a) water supp:q, (b) economic phases of feasibility, (c) flood control, (d) po\~er production and its relation to economic feasi- bility, (e) relation of imported water to existing water supp:q in the Arkansas River Valley, 8.'1d (f) fish, wildlife, and recreation. In that connection the Engineering Advisory Subcommittee was requested to report on its assignments on reviews of the revised Appendix G--Power, together with the Summary Statement Covering Revision in Economic Data, and the Special Report dated September 1949, all of which were submitted by the Regional Director at the request of the Committee. 3
