The two men will be
asked to outline water prohlems and
policies of the state.

Ken Johnson, publisher of The
Daily Sentinel, who presided as chair-
man, noted that the ,rural devel-
opment group must come up with
some recommendation of what a state

water policy should be. He also named
Lowell Watts as coordinator to put to-
gether a position paper detailing rec-
ommendations.
Among suggestions from commission
members on the study were not only
concern for diversion of water from
one basin to another in the state, but
also Crom one portion of a basin to an.
other in the same basin.
Gov. John Love, in his call to the
1972 legislature, ,recommended crea.
tion of a water study council, along
with definitions of its duties. power
and authority.
Johnson, noting that the study was
on the call, told the 'commission that
it must make a decision whether to
make some suggestions or whether to
continue to dodge the issue.

from the desk ~,
WILLIAM H. If the study should indicate we
should implement diversion, we'd be
the last to disagree." he said.
